If there are any left overs, we'll clean'em up manually i.e. However we would explicitly check for these once Apache is shutdown. The Stopping of Apache ensure worker processes are recycled, Semaphore and Shared Memory Segments are cleared. Therefore one option is we'd like to stop and start the apache process (LLAWP is tied to apache process, so if httpd dies LLAWP would also dies). In a graceful restart the WORKER processes are not recycled, only the apache threads are recycled. These could be corrupted due to a variety of reasons, however the most common one is graceful restart. This error occurs due to corrupt semaphore and/or shared memory segments. This error is LLAWP (SiteMinder WebAgent's Low Level Worker Process) writing into Apache's error logs because LLAWP works with the HTTPD worker process. Normally the PID Cache errors is encountered due to missing OR conflicts in Semaphores or Shared Memory Segments.
